I have recently begun my second attempt at re-fighting the English Civil War in its entirety. Please see here link for the set-up, here link for August 1642 and here link for September 1642.

And see here link for an AAR of the first battle.

Great stuff Whirlwind, I've always wanted to do the King's War / tabletop battle crossover thing myself. What's the deal with the computer generated map thingy? Is it relatively easy to set up?

Thanks Timbo.

The computer map is the map from the Cyberboard module for the game. It allows you to save the images, which makes it handy for the blog. A pity about the garish colours mind! And although I appreciate what the designer was trying to do with the photos of the minis on the counters, I think the design may have been a bit cleaner if he had stuck to the simple counters that come with the game. But I am very grateful to whoever took the time to convert it.

Can I ask, why the Cornish foot include veterans if this is an early war clash? Is this a rule twist to make them simply better than their opponents?

I think so, yes. There are only two veteran units in the initial set-up, a cavalry unit with the King and an infantry unit with Hopton. Parliament's forces are all "New".

Thank you for the report you have a great campaign. Wish I could do this same setup with one of the TYW phases. I also use Polemos and we have similar concerns. I like your suggestion for fire. Will these and the cavalry modifications as I have been tinkering myself.
Look forward to following your blog!
