So much suffering … so much example of civility and moral … so much sacrifice … at the end…for what?
Another Zimbabwe?…

"South Africa's parliament on Tuesday passed a motion brought by the radical left party, Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF), to carry out land expropriation without compensation, a key pillar of the ruling ANC government and new President Cyril Ramaphosa.

The motion, which would include a review of the constitution, was sponsored by leader of the EFF Julius Malema and was passed by an overwhelming majority of 241 votes in favour versus 83 votes against the proposal.

"We must ensure that we restore the dignity of our people without compensating the criminals who stole our land," Malema told parliament while presenting the motion.

The African National Congress (ANC), amended the motion, but supported it, with its deputy chief whip, Dorries Eunice Dlakude saying the party "recognizes that the current policy instruments, including the willing-buyer willing-seller policy and other provisions of section 25 of the constitution may be hindering effective land reform."

Two wrongs don't make a right.

The san were the original land "owners".
Giving the land back to them would be only slightly more practical than returning britain to the beaker people.

And yes, Armand.
Maybe not exactly like zimbabwe though.
Afrikaans descendants would quite likely band together and fight actively rather than passively be murdered raped and robbed.
Insane.

I'm sure Malema plans to make a Utopia out of the newly stolen land so all can coexist peacefully. What could go wrong?

Another formerly prosperous african country, now run by the left, heading down the toilet. They just keep rerunning the same sad movie.

About the Afrikaans… if their loose with the government on their side… how many chances have they now…?

Imho they are lost…

My opinions on this are really not suitable for polite conversation.

Yeah. That's why I kept my comment so short.

All I've gotta say then is that the poor blacks who after 1961* disagreed with Mandela's violent methods, and also those who for whatever reason refused to join the ANC had it much much worse than Mandela himself ever had it.

The way the government authorities treated Mandela while he was in prison was extremely gentle by comparison.

I guess that today keeping alive the myth that he was some sort of pacifist is way more important than the truth.

Dan
* That was the year on which Mandela renounced non-violence and established his "Spear of the Nation" (his brigade of terror enforcers). During his 27 years in prison he refused to call off his terror enforcers.
