Too many changes, too fast? I wonder where all the real extremists there are going to run off to now.

Or will Turkey and Iran step in and carve it up among themselves?

Dan
PS. Either way, if a really BIG change is in the works in the entire Middle East, then this might be a good time for all "infidels" to get the hell out of the whole area, lest they distract the factions and then they themselves become the new target.

Dan,

Actually, I think these steps may in fact preserve the country. Plus, the king has the support of the US and to a degree Israel.

Dave: "Plus, the king has the support of the US and to a degree Israel."

The extremists are counting on that.

And that will give rise to the next big call for Jihad.

Dan
PS. I must be part squid.

My colleagues, working in KSA see all changes as very positive. They're not Saudis (Indians or Pakistanis) bcs it is mostly foreign labour that keeps the country running. KSA has a lot of deep problems in economy, politics, relations with the neighbours, etc and huge difference between country nobility and the rest of the population, and I'm not even talking about foreign workers. The guys are awaiting that one day they'll be able to get pensions and possibilty to stay in the country after retirement age – but it might never happen.
