Does anyone have the organization of the 7th Hussars and the 2nd RTR in January, 1941? Specifically trying to find out if the Cruisers and Mk VI tanks were in mixed squadrons or separate squadrons. Thanks in advance! |

Greetings 2 RTR arrived with all cruisers – A Sqn A-13, B & C A-10, with A-9s in Sqn HQs). It swapped its B Squadron with 3 Hussars (Mk VI) in 1940 after arrival in the Delta {Delaforce Battles with Panzers p.202}. On 18 January 6 RTR handed over 10 cruisers and 5 light tanks to 2 RTR plus 72 personnel {ibid p.207}. By Beda Fomm on 6 February, 7 Hussars were apparently deploying 1 cruiser and 29 light tanks, at which time 2 RTR fielded 19 cruisers and 8 lights. {ibid p.212}. Regards Edward |

Kustenjager: thanks for the reference – I was unaware of that book! |

Greetings By the end of November 1940 7 Hussars had 7 cruisers {Davy, The Seventh and Three Enemies p.59}, seemingly all in A Sqn – this had had all of the regiment's cruisers since mid 1940. By 24 January there were only 3 left, and one of these was knocked out that day {ibid p.80}. As noted above there was only one cruiser with the regiment at Beda Fomm, commanded by Lt Guthrie, it threw a track {p.87-8}. Regards Edward |
