I worked through a first solo of SP2, and as they say, "Mistakes were made." However, it was still a fun time.

Spanish conscripts and skirmishers had an encounter with French regulars. The Spanish waited behind a dry creek bed (broken terrain, light cover) and waited for the French advance. The French brushed aside the Spanish skirmishers, sent on group on and end run, and advanced into the creek bed. Bad French dice rolls and turns ending allowed the Spanish to deal with one French threat at a time, when I was sure they were going to be overwhelmed. The Spanish were helped by a couple of instances of devastating fire (how may sixes can you roll at once).

In the end, one group of French regulars and the Spanish skirmishers had fled, and the remaining French had reformed. Neither side, however, was willing to push into the creek bed and risk the fire from the other side. It ended in a draw with the lightly wounded Spanish leader saluting his wounded French counterpart, and the survivors going home.
