In cases where there are multiple rounds, should new options be included in subsequent rounds? Obviously, this is unnecessary for Yes/No questions and those with only a few logical choices i.e., best version of DBA, etc. I frequently miss the Poll Suggestion phase, but never the poll itself and many good ideas pop up while the poll is running. |

No. Half the fun of a Poll is lecturing those who ask "Why didn't you include U2 in the list of Most Overrated Bands?" by replying that they were never nominated. Even if the lack of U2 in such a list is mystifying. I liken the Poll Suggestion phase to Presidential primaries. You're stuck with who ran. |

I have suggested a similar idea to Bill. If you see there is something obviously missing from a poll then add it before you post it. Like for example the poll is about who is the best general in the ACW. You then see that Grant and Lee did not get nominated, then just add them.Without Lee and Grant listed, then the entire poll would be invalid. A complete waste of time. I like the idea of adding them to subsequent rounds too. |

I could say that Butler or Magruder are "obviously missing" from the Poll. Where do you draw the line? No. If it didn't make the Poll Suggestion, it doesn't belong in the Poll. It's not as if TMP Polls are the last word on a subject, or are all that vital. Look at today's Snarky Quotes Poll. |

If I was in charge of the polls I would come up with my own list then add any nominees that weren't already on my list. I would also remove any that obviously do not qualify unless the person who nominated the choice can make the argument that it should be included. Using the above example if Wellington was nominated as one of the best ACW Generals, I would remove it, unless the person who nominated is talking about a ACW General who is also named Wellington and can make the case. I treat poll nominees as suggestions. I am the final word on what goes up on the poll. Why? Because I am in charge of the polls. |

But I do see your point. Follow the example of American elections and party nominations. You and I are looking at it from different perspectives. Your why does not make it fun for me. It is terribly frustrating. I guess I am more of "smoke filled room" kind of guy. I actually miss the old "smoke filled room." Got better candidates back then. |

In cases where there are multiple rounds, should new options be included in subsequent rounds? I do this rarely, only because most 'during round 1' suggestions don't seem like they would have gotten enough votes to get to round 2 anyway. |

the alphabetical nature of multi round polls sometimes skews the results if too many good choices under A&B and nothing but junk under JKL both still push the same number into later rounds |

… both still push the same number into later rounds No, they don't – pay attention |
