Hi,

I'm playing a Napoleonic skirmish rules system in which mounted figures can get unhorsed. As a consequence I need some dismounted cavalry. French dragoons are easy, I have some Perry plastics. British, on the other hand are not available anywhere – probably because they rarely fought on foot. I have British light Dragoons with shakos, and I figured that if I could find some shako heads from the Perry light dragoon box I could convert the Perry French dismounts. so, I inquired here to see if anyone had built Perry dragoons using alternate heads and had some as scrap. TMPer advocate generously provided me with 12 of them.

Here are some inprocess and completed pictures.

First I needed to trim the boot tops down to resemble trousers.

Here's pic of the boots removed and the replacement head with a complete original figure.

Here's two of each complete and primed.

The four figures painted.

The Brits – front and back

And here's the dismounts with a mounted figure.

I need to order some more figures to complete the project, but I'm happy with the conversion result.

Thanks again to advocate for making it possible.

I love to see conversion work and this is great. Purists will argue for the light cavalry sabre in its scabbard and for the coat tails in "Polish Lancer style". (weird this, but wider at the top than the bottom basically).

This is minutiae. I would say that shortening the muskets is a must tho'.

I would also say how great it is to see such conversion work. My Perry foot dragoons have become everything from Gendarmes d'Elite to Maison du Roi of Louis XVIII. They are almost unique as foot cavalry with both arms moulded separately. Who else does that?

What a great posting. Thanks for this, I hope the makers are watching

That's great work. Pleased that I could help.

I particularly like the building they are standing in front of.

in case you look for the pre shako British Dragoons, the Perrys have them in their "Egypt" range, skrimishing with the carbine
