I've had different wargaming rule suggestions for the Great Pacific War between Chili, Peru, and Bolivia (1879-1884). One is Neil Thomas' 19th Century Wargaming Rules. Another is Black Powder.
Are there any commercially available sets for this period in 15mm?
I know Outpost Wargames Service makes figures in 15mm for this conflict.
I wondered about gaming it?
Any suggestions from people who game this? I'm not talking about Sapper Joe who'll never get a project done besides his 28mm RCW stuff. I'm probably one of 20 Gringos who'd actually game this period.
What about my friends on the other side of the pond (the Atlantic)? What, if any commercial sets, are you using for late 19th century conflicts? Are all your rules sets homegrown?
Any suggestions from Latin American gamers who collect this conflict?
And this is addressed to Robert Bourke. Are you and David Waxtel ever going to introduce the They Died For Glory modules you promised in the 1992 edition of They Died for Glory?
I can bastardize stats for They Died for Glory to run Great Pacific War stats for the Chileans, Peruvians, and Bolivians for this conflict (that shouldn't be a problem).
The regiments were two battalions strong, 4 regiments to a division. Assuming 800 men per battalion, there's some batteries of artillery and cavalry per side. The Peruvians only had 8 battalions of infantry in their whole army and the Bolivians had three battalions in infantry.
I'd face the Peruvians and Bolivians to fight the Chileans (with 12 or 13 battalions of infantry). That's what I was thinking per side. Maybe an 15mm ACW monitor to go along with a shore bombardment.
Does that sound about right? Any input is appreciated. Anyway, I'm mulling around my next gaming projects.
Right now, I have the following on my painting table:
2018:
30mm High Elves; 28mm Amazons; 30mm Adeptus Mechanicus, 30mm WH40K Chaos Death Guard, 30mm WH40K World Eater Vehicles; Rhulic Steampunk Dwarfs.
2019:
28mm Sudanese Dervishers; 15mm SYW Swedes.
2020:
15mm SYW Prussians; 28mm Greek Successor Armies.
2021:
15mm Great Pacific War armies.
Thanks,
Regards,
