Are there any scale creep issues within the Xyston ranges. I am after Republican Roman and Seleucids. Wanting reassurance of consistency within each range. Cheers! |

There was scale creep with Xyston. The newer releases are similiar in size to the original. Figures released in the "middle period" got quite large. Not sure on the codes, although I have seen a breakdown in the past. I think most of the Romans are large. Not sure about all the successors. I think most of the pikemen are ok, but some of the light troops are quite large – particularly the Thureophoroi (ANC20104). I suspect the ANC202xx codes are ok. |

…I heard their Romans are large, too. |

As Hans said the Romans are noticeably larger than the Macedonians/Successors and the Thureophoroi are large also. I have a large collection of Macedonian and Persian and they are ok together but not with others. If I were to start today I would collect War and Empire ranges from West Wind Productions. I have a Punic Wars Roman army and Gauls and the ranges are great. Also they come with attached shields and weapons. They are currently having their third Kickstarter and if you pledge you can order your rewards from their back catalogue. |

Yes, the Republican Romans are larger than many of their others. The Seleucids are more consistent with the earlier figures. |

Looking through their catalogue again, I am fairly certain codes starting with ANC202 and ANC203 are ok. Some of these "newer" Xyston are the best 15/18mm figures I have ever seen. I agree, much of the War & Empire is very nice also. Some people prefer cast on weapons and shields. Some prefer them cast seperately. Personally, I usually prefer wire spears, or at least the option to replace cast on spears. The War & Empire figures I have are cast close to the body and would be difficult to replace. I am not sure about their pikemen. |
