I worked through the rules and gave it a playthrough.

Brief summary, the rules have been cleaned up with some clarifications. The way Saga dice are generated and used have been modified but not as a major overhaul.

Nice overview. I played today and found the new rules to be an improvement and boards to have greater balance. Just to clarify a couple of points from your review, according to the interview Alex Buxhel did on the Northern Tempest podcast, the Crusades book will be next with 12 factions including Tectonics, and that Aetius and Arthur will not be redone, there will just be a downloadable doc bringing it up to speed with v.2 as it was developed in tandem with the new rules.

I am looking forward to the new Crusades book. I studied the current crusades boards and feel that it would be hard work to fit in with the v2 rules but still probably better than trying to keep v1 and v2 rules in my head. The new board abilities are cloesly tied to the v2 rules.

great post and thank you for the overview!

I fell out of Saga but with V2 my interest is somewhat renewed but also little on the wary side. Posts like this that add info to the picture are great!
