Round cornered basing
Having done the 3x2 pvc bases for Rommel with rounded corners I found them very proffessional like and decided that the figure and tank basing would also look good with rounded corners .

So here they are

After several methods for mass production this is currently my best jig

Its a nail cutter screwed to a pvc block and a corner guide with raised sides for any size of base to fit in and have 2mm corner cut off with the curvature of the nail cutter .A slight rub with a file will take round off more smoothly the corners as the cutter has a large radius

I have found round corner cutting pliers on line but the don't work if you have the figures already attached on the bases

picture

The jig needs to be aligned so as the base rests level on the lower fixed jaw of the cutter

I like the way your mind works, might have to try that myself.

I use 1.5mm ply for basing. I simply sand the corners ‘round' whilst I'm sanding the edges after cutting. Very quick and easy.

Those look great.

There are also die cutters for rounding out corners on chipboard or thick cardstock, even leather.

I love rounded corner basing. Very clever idea on how to get it.

I haven't mentioned that the bases are printers aluminium
They are thin easy to cut by scoring don't warp and cheap

Learned to clip corners long ago on boardgame counters. Makes 'em easier to handle, move around, etc.

I'm guessing the actual printing plates.

David Grech15 Feb 2018 12:33 p.m. PST

Yes they are printing plates
0.25mm. Or 8thou thick

I find them excellent as they can be cut by scoring with an xacto blade and they snap as you fold staying flat

Not sure it would work on Napoleonics but the vehicles it looks good

David Grech16 Feb 2018 2:52 a.m. PST

Agree My Napoleonics based for AOE are rectangular so when in brigade formation they look solid

Another option, in case you have a ton of bases to do:
