Since I've gotten some good response to my other Doctor Who topic I'd thought to go the other way and find out who is your least favorite Doctor Who.

Now I've only seen a few episodes of the 1st and 2nd Doctors and I've seen a fair number of the 3rd(Jon Pertwee)my favorite, but from Tom Baker until Peter Capaldi I've not missed an episode.

My least favorite Doctor Who has to be Colin Baker to me he wasn't likeable and crude and rude IMHO and overall I just didn't like him.

So who is your least favorite Doctor Who?

Sylvestor McCoy's. Not for him or the character so much as to the plotlines falling into mysticism instead of science fiction. I also didn't like the smug "I know everything but reveal nothing" nature of the character.

Peter Capaldi but I blame Moffitt for his crappy writing and direction.

parrskool13 Feb 2018 9:53 a.m. PST

Yup…. some of the writing has been bad…. too clever by half!

David Tennant. Only time I stopped watching Who after starting in the 70's.

Too smug and dare I say hypocritical by far.

From childhood memories, Colin Baker.

There are several, Sylvester McCoy, Patrick Troughton, Colin Baker and Paul McGann, especially!

all of them never could take to that Show

Colin Baker's Doctor, not Colin Baker. Colin Baker worked very hard to try to preserve Dr. Who. The character was created by the producers as much as by Colin Baker. If memory serves, they were still trying to create a Doctor more like the first Doctor, not like Tom Baker's Doctor.

Peter Davison (5th), but it may not be his fault — the writing was dropping off significantly after a few great seasons of Gothic Horror with Tom Baker, and plus he started off with Adric which didn't help at all!

I emphasise NOT Colin Baker himself, but the time of the 6th Doctor was embattled, difficult, messy, and cancelled.
It must have been hugely frustrating for those closely involved.
Not all the difficulties disappeared for the 7th Doctor.

I hate to admit it, but it probably NEEDED to stop in 1989, and be given plenty of time to recharge.

Sylvester McCoy.

Although, to be fair he didn't have much to work with. The scripts and storylines were dropping off a cliff by then.

The final straw was the Happiness Patrol.

Colin Baker and Sylvester McCoy. I stopped watching with Capaldi, so he comes in there as well. The guitar playing on a tank just put me right off and the boring plots after didn't help.

In defence of Colin Baker, his audio adventures are fantastic and show the potential of what his Doctor could have been.

Ssendam14 Feb 2018 3:04 a.m. PST

All the choices for the Doctor have been good actor wise IMHO but with Sylvester McCoy is where the story lines became pretty awful. Not a big fan of Matt Smith or Peter Capaldi either … but, looking forward to the new Doctor, I just hope she gets decent story lines.

Peter Capaldi, tried watching the first couple of episodes, then didn't bother anymore.

> plus he started off with Adric which didn't help at all!

He also had Nyssa, which helped make up for it. The worst two companions in my opinion were Turlough and Tegan. Adric is a saint compared to those two. A whiny saint but a saint.

Nothing against the actors, Turlough was just a bad character idea to being with. Janet Fielding, who played Tegan, is hilarious – I make it a point to listen to any commentary tracks she does for Dr. Who on DVD.
