"Afghanistan has seen a lot of fighting since the Soviet invasion in December 1979. The Soviets ended up building bases in the war-torn country. So did the United States, which has been in Afghanistan since October 2001. Now, the Chinese Communists are reportedly building a base in northeastern Afghanistan, giving them a foothold in Central Asia.

According to a report by Eurasianet.org, the base is being built for the Afghan Armed Forces. Both Chinese and Afghan sources denied these reports, but Fergana News, which broke the story originally, confirmed that the base is being built in the northeastern Afghan province of Badakhshan, which borders Tajikistan. On the other side of Tajikistan, further to the east, is the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region of the People's Republic of China…"

Whatever they build there will become a permanent claim.

Let's just give Afghanistan to China. They can take over policing it to ensure terrorists don't have a haven. China might even do a better job of it because unlike the West, China propably doesn't give a crap about collateral damage, rules of engagement and other liberal crap which restricts the military from doing its job.

While the West obsesses over trivial matters, or gets distracted with decoy conflicts elsewhere, the world will slowly become Communist China.

"While the West obsesses over trivial matters, or gets distracted with decoy conflicts elsewhere, the world will slowly become Communist China."

Which largely, would be an improvement over the failure now running the world. The EU has decided political and genetic suicide is the path for them and that will lead to poverty and a new dark age. America cannot stop spending on war and the increasingly failure prone equipment with which to wage war. This will lead to a Soviet style collapse and break up.

China won't have to conquer anything, just pick up the pieces.

For the genetic suicide bogey man to come and get you the populations would need to mix. So either the migrants are integrating or they're not, you can't have it both ways.

Ever heard of sleepers? Clandestine cells? Overstaying a fake tourist visa? Or, easier still, jumping a fence and living under assumed identities?

Happens all the time. Specially in mixed urban areas like in the Pacific and Atlantic states. Hawaii is a good place, with the navy bases close by. Seattle might be easier, through Canada.

I've watched The Americans too, but I did it from behind the couch with my tinfoil hat on.

China is welcome to it.

Afghanistan is where empires go to die.

Never heard of it.

So I guess you are under the impression that hardcore spy games ended with the fall of the Soviets? Dream on.
