My copy of CMON's Rising Sun game finally arrived. Approximately 15 lbs. of gaming goodness. 116 32mm scale miniatures; humans, monsters, and gods. The box and component artwork is outstanding. A quick review of the rules gave me the impression of an easy to learn game with lots of subtlety. A game is played in four seasonal turns with most of the action in the Spring, Summer and Autumn turns. Each season has multiple political phases where you raise and train armies, summon priests and monsters and garner resources. Each season ends in a single war phase where possession of provinces is determined. The winner of the game is determined by the number of provinces owned during the Winter turn. I pretty much went all in getting the base game, large expansion and three smaller expansions. Now my only decision is whether to paint the minis. The detail is a bit daunting to a duffer like me.
