With the dates of movement missing, it is hard to follow the action. Where are the Spanish operations? |
Brechtel198 | 03 Feb 2018 2:57 p.m. PST |
Did the Spanish operate in Georgia and the Carolinas, or were their operations only in Florida? |
Rudysnelson | 03 Feb 2018 6:33 p.m. PST |
Louisiana, Florida and Alabama. They also fought the British Invasion in Central America using SC POWs. |

The dates of the movement are marked. They are in the rectangles. |

Louisiana, Florida and Alabama. They also fought the British Invasion in Central America using SC POWs. So, this map doesn't cover Spanish operations at all because their operations were in other areas. The map clearly states at the top 'Operations in the Carolinas.' The reference to the 'war in the South' also refers to operations between the British and Americans. |

I do not what your problem is Brechtel198. The topic does not say Carolinas, just South. The map topic has both. These look like the maps from the West Point series. The map does cover more than just the Carolina. Georgia and single Virginia event but not Arnold s associated operation is shown. Anyway my focus was on the often ignored Spanish operations in the South. Their actions helped as well. So buzz off. |

The map also omits the Rebel efforts to take East Florida early in the war, the early war campaigns against the Cherokee, some of the activity connected with the 1779 campaign, Waxhaws, a great deal of the partisan/anti partisan in 1780-81, and Wayne's Georgia campaign. Clearly the map is intended to illustrate certain aspects of the southern campaigns rather than be a depiction of the entire thing. |

Georgia and single Virginia event but not Arnold s associated operation is shown. Anyway my focus was on the often ignored Spanish operations in the South. Their actions helped as well. The problem is that the map does not, and is not intended to, cover Spanish operations. The legend of the map is quite specific about what is covered by it. If you are grousing and complaining about what is not there, which you obviously are, then I suggest you look up Bernardo de Galvez, et al, and his operations farther south and southwest of those depicted on the subject map. And, yes, Spanish operations helped against the British in the allied war effort. They didn't, however, directly affect the British operations in the Carolinas or Greene's operations there either. |

Spanish operationsin the Gulf did not affect British operations in the Carolinas. You are correct. There was The I'll fated British Invasion of Central America with primarily South Carolina POWs. I was surprised that they were not used to attack Galvez instead. |
