I've just started trying to paint after a few years and picked up an airbrush to speed things up a bit but I'm stuck on complimentary base and highlight colors from Vallejo Air/Game Air lines and my searches have turned up very little.

I want a nice military/OD green, I'm planning on doing the pre-shade/highlight technique, and want to avoid having to thin as much as possible.

Suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

I'm not an air brusher. And painting in general is my least favorite aspect of the hobby. So take my post with a grain of salt from a less than adept painter.

I don't think Vallejo is set up in triads like other paint manufacturers. Could you just use the desired color to start and then cut is with a little "buff" color to lighten it for the next lighter shade?

Vallejo actually have a boxed set for Olive Drab modulation:

Ii have used it, and if you don't use the darkest colors it works well for 15mm sized vehicles, but as you go larger you should use a shade darker. So, go full hog if you're doing a 1/32 scale model but only the lightest 3 if doing 15s or smaller.

@zoneofcontrol A lot of the things I've seen on line involve mixing in buff or sand. But I'm trying to go with as simple and efficient process as I can avoiding mixing colors and needing to thin more than a few drops in the airbrush cup.

@Darkest Star Games I looked at that vallejo set but was dubious on the small bottles and not being able to cross reference the colors. You wouldn't happen to know what those colors cross to in the main Air line, or somewhere online I could look them up?

I plan on doing some 40k, and 35th scale and hopefully denting the 15mm US pile in time so i thank you for that info
