Would one or two of you like to read installment chapters of a novel I'm working on?
A bit of a start and stop project, but I work on it first thing in the AM, roughly 4 O'clock'ish in order to get the cobwebs cleared and the juices flowing for other projects as the day progresses.
I dun ain't got know idea where it's going, but one is rarely supposed to when pen is put to paper.
It's military, it's its own world, circa mid to late 19th Century and w/deal, ultimately, with the burdens and choices of command (and it will eventually, NEED a map…< insert subtle hint HERE >).
Solid knowledge of 19th Century warfare in general and Colonial Wars specifically is what I am looking for.
I DON'T want you to like the book (at least not at this point in time) and while I do want (minimal) critique at this point, I am more interested in your thoughts about the characters.
Is the main character interesting, does he hold your interest, would you like to read the next chapter to see how things advance? What about the ancillary characters, etc.
This book will be much like the "Way of Kings" by Sanderson, in that the beginning and at least the initial main event, will meet somewhere towards the middle of the book, so it will bounce back and forth in time.
If you don't think you can handle this "jostling about", then please don't volunteer.
If truly interested and if you can give a fair critique about the character(s) and theme, please let me know and we'll go from there.
Once I/we get the characters polished up a bit, then we can look at other facets, but this will all take time so please keep that in mind also.
Feel free to PM me here or drop me an Email (the CSW Sales listings I always post here have the link to click on).
Thanks in advance,
Andrew
And YES, if the book goes somewhere, and I have a permanent "Go to Gang of Three or Four" for critique and advice from the start, you will be rewarded for your patience and efforts!
