A colleague at work has just picked up a Tevo Tornado (apparently its very similar to the Creality CRIO?). I know very little about 3d printers. Has anyone here got experience of one these?

My main area of interest is WWII 1:144 (and may be some spaceships from a galaxy far, far away) so on a sliding scale would it manage?

I've got a test block on my desk which suggests at least for the resolutions printed its going to too grainy for much other than terrain – 190 is the smallest number (well at least I assume its a test block as my mate left it on my desk while I was day off and haven't seen him since).

Some tips on material would be appreciated as the agreement we're working up is along the lines of 'I buy the spools plus some extra' and he prints my stuff and keeps the spare.

I think your test block is probably a temperature tower. See link . These are used to help determine the best print temperature to use.

Yes it is, as I found out today, like I said I know very little…

In 1/144, I think it could handle terrain, but vehicles may not turn out as desired. I'm using a Prusa, and have printed 15mm armor vehicles that are not bad for gaming.

All our vehicles are 1/144 and many are using a home 3D printer at 0,1mm layer height. Great detail and durable models. Much better than the typical ill fitting metal ones. Slowly replacing my metal with home printed models but no use to you as they are moderm.

Okay, useful, at the moment I'm looking 1:100 WWII files and considering just printing at 70% size!
