What has happened to the DBx boards? They've just disappeared. I know they're a bit long in the tooth, but people still use them. It seems impossible to access anything using a "DBx or De bellis.. search term". Has TMP decided to ban them?

I think the idea to move them was terrible.

Dervel Fezian27 Jan 2018 7:02 p.m. PST

It's pretty much impossible to find them, seems like the search function is not working anymore either?

Agreed. A horrible idea.

How about a Poll Suggestion?
"Should the rules whose threads were totally transferred to the Rules Forum be restored to the main message boards?"

If I choose ancients and medieval as an interest why do I not see the various rules posts as well? Ideally just dbmm but could ignore the rest easily.

Oh well never mind bound to be another post from tango by the time I get back to the homepage……

DBX is indeed an important dimension of the hobby.

Or there is this link ,

No ones used any of them since last year somewhere I think due to them being hard to find easily.

Father Grigori28 Jan 2018 7:41 a.m. PST

aynsley683: Indeed. I looked earlier and the most recent entry was about 6 months ago. As you say, they are still an important part of the hobby, and deserve better representation.

A poll might work in a couple of years when it gets run. Bill was told repeatedly not to do this with rules, and the peanut gallery was roundly ignored. The negative consequences are obvious to just about everyone.

I've been less than happy with that move.

After its creation I noticed a sharp decline in ‘hits' as the board was tucked away under Fantasy and not Historical boards. Consequently, I stopped posting there and placed all my historical games, campaigns and other related projects under the Ancients or Medieval Discussion board.

I play exclusively DBA 3.0 for ancients and medieval games and for the gunpowder era I have upgraded DBA-HX (Humberside Extension) to use 3.0 which can be downloaded at the Fanaticus Wiki. In between painting, battles and campaigns I am also revising the old DBN (De Bellis Navalibus) to use 3.0. Any future announcement of the revision will be placed to either the Ancients or Medieval board.

The introduction of the rules-specific boards, followed by the removal of the links to said boards, appears to have greatly reduced traffic.

HANS GRUBER29 Jan 2018 7:08 a.m. PST

Well put, Mr Bat.

I'm a avid DBXer and never bother to look at these boards – hard to find and no one posts on them anyway.

Now just use the general medieval boards to post DBX stuff.
