After previously reporting several overly optimistic plans in various threads on TMP, as well as completing a couple of solo play test scenarios, at long last I was able to stage a live two-player game of Palo Alto in the Mexican American War.

In June 2017, we played the Palo Alto scenario at the Charlotte Garrison with Eric Burgess commanding the American army and Brian Connolly commanding the Mexican army. It was a great game and the troops were fully blooded at long last in a live two-player game!!

Eric kindly posted the photo report on his Din of Battle blog site at link

There are tons of great reports on Eric's site on the comings and goings of the Charlotte Garrison on many different periods.

For some mysterious reasons, some of the photos of our Palo Alto game didn't load properly at Eric's site, but they are all in a photo report that I recently posted to the files section of the Piquet Yahoo site. I also posted a photo report on the Piquet site of a play test of a small segment of the Buena Vista battle where Torrejon's cavalry attacked a V-formation of Jefferson Davis' 1st Mississippi and the 3rd Indiana.

A word of caution when looking at my photo reports, please shield your eyes to avoid looking directly at stands that have not been flocked and units with bare flag poles! I haven't mastered the art of flocking yet, nor of mounting my flags, but I'm working on it! Meanwhile there are battles to fight, dang the flocking and flags, full speed ahead!

I'm working on a two-battle campaign scenario for a replay of Palo Alto followed by Resaca de la Palma for the survivors and recoveries from Palo Alto. Hopefully we'll be able to put that on the table before the end of March! Perhaps even with flocked and flagged units!

Enjoy your games!
