That is a good video. Lots of peripheral detail, not just endless gun camera footage, but carrier deck operations, etc. I'm going to watch that later on the big screen. |

It was interesting to see the F-89 down the B-17 drone. I had a high school teacher who flew F-89s for NOAD. He said that they called it the flying vacuum cleaner because the low-slung intakes would vacuum up anything on the runway during takeoffs. He also flew F-80s in Korea and was part of the squadron that developed Wild Weasel tactics flying F-100s in Vietnam. He had a lot of good stories and it was easy to get him started taking about them :). |
