Started collecting 20mm Franco Prussian War figures about a year ago. Mostly B & B figures, also Minifigs "S" range figures from the late Ed Millers collection that were generously gifted to me by his son Rusty. Have about 1200 infantry, 200 cavalry, 36 guns with crews and some command stands. I continue to add to it, been a fun project…….

They're beautiful, George!

Double G23 Jan 2018 1:27 p.m. PST

Thanks Wayne, glad you like them. Have thought a number of times of doing FPW, the only thing holding me back was starting from scratch, but I finally decided to pull the trigger, glad I did, have made a lot of progress in a year.

Cheriton23 Jan 2018 2:49 p.m. PST

Double G:

Yes, very impressed.

Can you give us a rough estimate of which brands of 20mm are present? I had no idea there were so many, mostly out of production?

Brownand23 Jan 2018 3:10 p.m. PST

I alwasy thought 20mm would be a great scale of this period but thought there were a lof of figrues around. You prove the opposite
These look very good.

PeloBourbon23 Jan 2018 3:13 p.m. PST

Wow , Impressive, are used in previous comments so I guess that I'm speechless.
Congratulations Mr G , beautiful collection.

Thanks for the positive feedback everyone, I appreciate it. The figures are B & B Miniatures, which are still in production, they have a website with a shopping cart and also Minifigs S Range, which I believe are back in production through John Cunningham out of the UK.

Double G23 Jan 2018 4:41 p.m. PST

As requested, more pictures; thanks again for the feedback and positive words…….

Outstanding – Very Atmospheric!

Double G24 Jan 2018 8:10 a.m. PST

Thanks Joe; we've talked about this, happy I finally took the plunge………….

Perris070724 Jan 2018 2:44 p.m. PST

Glorious! One of my all-time favorite periods for sure. The art of Detaille, Rochling, and de Neuville inspired me to "take the plunge" back in the 1970's when I had to convert Airfix WWI Germans and WWI French to get my Franco Prussian War games on. They were 20mm too! Not a lot of options for this period back in those days.

Double G24 Jan 2018 2:52 p.m. PST

Thanks for the comments Perris0707; wow, great minds think alike as the artwork was one of the inspirations for me as well to get into this period.

So glad I did, am slowly building my collection up, am about 75% there, want to get to 1000 infantry, 200 cavalry and 24 guns per side, hopefully by the end of the year I'll get there.

What rules do you use????????

Double G24 Jan 2018 7:54 p.m. PST

Not a gamer; I'm a collector, I enjoy planning and setting up large layouts using 20mm Napoleonics, ACW, FPW and WWII, have close to 20,000 painted figures in my collection, I enjoy what I do a great deal…………..

Fish25 Jan 2018 2:42 a.m. PST

It all looks splendid -well done!

Great George. Your setup actually reminds me of Detaille paintings. That is quite an achievement. Thanks for posting so many photos.

I have a friend here in Ohio who does as you. He has the figures and terrain. He creates a scene, often from an historic battle, and lets it set up for a while to enjoy. Then he puts it away to bring out a new one a little later.

Tom,
Thanks for the feedback, I appreciate it. Glad you can relate to what drives my bus; I enjoy planning out the layouts, setting them up and then just enjoying them visually for a few weeks, then I take them down and start planning the next one.

It's a great deal of fun and fun is what this or any other hobby should be about………..
