I had eagerly awaited the start of this show. A show about the invasion of Britain with what appeared to be a good cast.
Well, it was like forming a perfect battle plan and then throwing straight ones all game, thoroughly disappointing…..

I accept TV makes concessions to history in order to make a good show but this was unmitigated tripe in my opinion. The Druids are represented as Gollum's lost family, Britons are dressed and equipped as armoured cavalry and the Cantii have a freakin castle built on a mountain, not a hill fort. Apart from that there is the usual sex scene between the wife of the son of the Cantii ruler and her second husband who she had to take because the Druids said it would reinforce tribal alliances but is still married to the first one who meekly accepts this. The daughter of the Cantii ruler is using a bow that would do Robin Hood proud, and a Druid uses hypnosis to prevent a robbery. There was more, but that's enough for me.

IMHO it makes Vikings look accurate, and GoT credible as a historical epic.

Rant over….

And that sums up my thoughts, so I won't insist. And the Romans? What do you think of the Romans? Ah! Almost as bad as the Britons, if not more.

Yes, the Romans are not much better, interesting how they all march taking dolly steps……sounding like the evil army entering Mordor. And drinking wine from glasses, poured from a glass decanter. Whats next, a nip of scotch and a good Cuban?

Like many, I too was looking forward to this. I'm struggling to feel any attachment to any of the characters and this makes the historical flaws all the more jarring. I can forgive the locations in eastern Europe since they are dramatic compared to the UK. I can forgive the costumes because at least there is an attempt there. But the story line doesn't gel (only up to episode 4). At least in "Vikings" I am actually interested in what happens to some of the characters and feel that the story lines are passable.

It has not started over here, yet. Nonetheless, after seeing the trailer, I had no interest in it. It looks just too ridiculous. Right up there with Xena, Warrior Princess and Hercules series from some years ago.

Looked like they filmed at Llantwit major beach too

Tedious.

Pure trash. I was so disappointed with it after being so excited for it. Wow it was a whole new level of revisionist trash. Avoid like the clap.

I suspect the History channel will pick it up…. to go along with the other ancient "history" shows they have had.

Apparently the idea was lifted from recent comic book series or the same name that valiant put out. Kinda in the same vein as what happened to Vertigo's Fables.

A comic, well that explains it….annoying when there is so much real history around the invasion.

Bellbottom26 Jan 2018 11:16 a.m. PST

Worse still, the series ends in mid air, so a sequel series must be planned.

Series is rather poor. Only part I did like was the use of Roman stakes on top of Palisade wall. I had always wondered how 2 stakes could make a wall At least it looks good.
