Yes, I know, the weapons ranges would make such a game difficult. The idea of playing on a 6' x 4' table with ATGMs with a range of 100' is a bit silly.

But man, those Eureka moderns in the NBC/MOPP suits are very nice, and a close-in skirmish could be a lot of fun.

Has anyone done skirmish-level WWIII rules?

Crossfire may be worth a look. Originaly designed to fight inside rifle range. Its only later when it got screwed up trying to put tanks and artillery in (most of the board wouls be inside danger close) and no place for Armoured vehicles in most situations.

Good intro.

weapons not rely an issue lets face it the Falklands and beyopnd the Bred was still a wepon of choice so very little to do in tweaks as infantry weapons have not changed much. MNost of the time personal armour keeps yo alive not neccesarily fighting. So dead just means not combat effective for a few months/weeks, some of the time.

Force on Force, Spectre Ops, Skirmsh Sangin are good starts. Definitely a skirmish sized game would be easy enough with these rules sets.

If you're looking for pre-packaged rules, 'Tomorrow's War' and 'Force on Force' are probably the most popular.

Don't forget the "Cold War Gone Hot" supplement for "Force on Force".

Cold War Gone Hot using FoF rules. Probably the best fit for your requirements.

I've always been surprised that Arc of Fire doesn't get more love than it should around here. You can play in two scales, including one where M-16s can go out to a few hundred inches! There's stats for most vehicles and you can surprisingly play with quite a lot of stuff on the board for group games.

5Core has a couple of different sets that would work. I have No End In Sight but haven't had a chance to try it yet. They also have skirmish rules and I am tempted to convert the Five Men At Kursk to WW3.

I use Disposable Heroes; there are supplements for Vietnam, Soviets in Afghanistan, Rhodesia, the Falklands and Somalia.
