Looked mostly at the Spanish Civil War portion. Interesting, but unsurprisingly didn't do more than mention the reality of the Soviet attitudes on race, etc. On the other hand it went into some detail on how the Moroccans were deceived by Franco. |

I also read the Spanish Civil War section – seemed a bit "Franco was bad and Stalin was cuddly really" in approach. If you read "Spain in our hearts" you get a good comparison between how the African-American volunteers were treated in Spain and the appalling way they were treated when they returned to the USA. |
