Where are all of you U.S. based players buying figures and rules for playing Saga. Is there a U.S. distributor for the new rules set? Or Gripping Beast miniatures for that matter? The names of any vendors who sell minis usable with Saga, in the U.S. would be appreciated.

Thanks
chris

SAGA will release a 2nd edition soon, supposedly in February. I would not invest in the current rulebook right now if I were you.

There are sellers on ebay for Gripping Beast plastics and some metal figs. as well. The ebay seller that I have used for several recent purchases is "sherwoodwargames".

Again SAGA version 2 is due out in a month or two.

Cotton Jim Flags has a very large selection of Gripping Beast figures and is a real good guy as well.

Directly from Gripping Beast. It's fast and reliable.

My Viking army has figures from Foundry (in England), Black Tree Design (BTD), which is a British company with a US branch in north Texas, and Old Glory, which is definitely a US company. My Anglo-Saxons are BTD, Welsh are Old Glory, and Irish are from Crusader, another British company, but are available in the USA from Brigade Games. All are good companies.

I got my Saga books from my local store (USA), Gripping Beast (the UK, of course), and a US store that went out of business a few years back. As Coopman says, a new edition of Saga is due out in February. The basic rule book will be 10 GBP, and the Viking era armies book will be 30 GBP. I haven't decided who I'll go to for the new editions--I'll probably follow my wandering ways, buying one here, and the other there.

Several distributors including mine carry them. A very extensive range. Easy to find or special order.

There are also LOADS of other figure ranges you can look at:

  • In the US I sell the 1st Corps Ranges at ScaleCreep.com
  • Old Glory produce a lot of 25mm Dark ages figures. 30 figures for $36 USD, less if you join their buyers' club (Old Glory Army).
  • Fireforge Games (available from The War Store and other places) make 28mm in plastic that could be used.
  • Crusader Miniatures have a 28mm Dark Ages range.
  • Wargames Foundry is a great source, but expensive.
  • Footsore do a few Dark Ages figs.

jeffreyw321 Jan 2018 11:10 a.m. PST

Mark brings up a good point: Footsore have some very nice SAGA ranges, and the service here in the US is great.

coopman21 Jan 2018 11:21 a.m. PST

Yes, Footsore is currently working up some Viking Hirdmen figures but they're not available yet. Right now all they have is a few warlords and 5 packs of Bondi.

Borderguy19021 Jan 2018 10:24 p.m. PST

I've ordered multiple times direct from Gripping Beast without an issue. Pretty quick shipping too. I've ordered once from Footsore. Same feeling. Quick service, not one issue. I would order again without hesitation.
