I remember when the movie came out, thinking that almost every piece--maybe every building--had a real-life prototype. I wasn't sold on all of them as a village, but as individual pieces, very nice.

The movie set was very deliberately designed to look like a village from a nightmare. Every building is plausible, yet you would only see them all together in a dream.

One of the many design features of this movie that I love!
