What is the historical basis for these miniatures? Just curious. |

Turcoman women also regularly fought alongside their menfolk, Marvazi comparing the Amazons to such female Turcoman warriors in the 12th century. Much later (in the 15th century) one tribe is said to have raised as many as 30,000 female warriors. (Ian Heath, "Armies and Enemies of the Crusades 1096-1291") "The Book of Dede Korkut", a late-mediaeval Turcoman telling of the deeds of their pagan Oghuz ancestors, includes warrior-women characters. |

To this day they compete beside the men in festivals of traditional sports. Clearly not cossetted petticoat types. |

If you can take 140 episodes watch "Retribution Ertugal" on Netflix to see Aikuz fight with her bow from horseback in battle. The women and children were a circle of defense. Costumes are accurate. About the Kaya Turkmen tribe set in 12th century Anatolia. Enemies are the evil Christian Templers and the Mongols. Allies are the City of Aleppo and the Seljuk Sultan Allahdin. Very Enjoyable. |
