I sometimes get a kick out of these, "Who's the best general" discussions, so I thought I would introduce a new twist: Who is the best general by alphabet. I did this at work, so some are for fun, and I couldn't think of anyone for "I" or "U" Join the party A: Alexander of Macedon B: Belisarius C: Charles XII D: King David E: Prince Eugene F: Frederick the Great G: Gustavus Adolphus H: Hannibal I: J: Stonewall Jackson K: Genghis Kahn L: Robert E Lee M: Marlborough N: Napoleon O: Gaius Octavius P: Aaro Pajari Q: Qin Shi Huang R: von Ruhnstead S: Somerled T: Turrenne U: V: Paul von Lettow-Vorbeck: W: Wellington X: Xenophon Y: Tomoyuki Yamashita Z: Shaka Zulu |

I: Iulius Caesar (he would have spelled it with an I) U: Ulysses Grant |

Since I assume it has to be last name, how about: For I – Shōjirō Iida – commanded 15th Army and conquered Burma; 7,000 losses versus 30,000 British Empire losses For U – Roman Fyodorovich von Ungern-Sternberg, the infamous Mad Baron of the Russian Civil War in Asia |

Love the idea The great Conde for C. Or Cordoba. Sherman or Sheridan or Maurice de Saxe for S Von Moltke or Marlborough. Zhukov for Z. Shaka is Awesome but he didn't have to work with Stalin. |
