I was wondering if anyone uses a specific Brush Shaper as opposed to just wetting it with your tongue? I found Mona Lisa Brush Shaper Brush Restoration on Amazon.

New one to me. From the Amazon photo, I can't see how it works.

I clean my brushes with a brush cleaner then I put a little of the brush cleaner (special soap), and shape the brush to a point, wedge or whatever it should be and let it dry. When I next use it, I soak the brush for a few minutes to wet the bristles and get the soap out.

I use this to clean my brushes, after also posting on facebook I learned it can also be used to shape the brush after cleaning.

I don't wet my brush with my tongue either.

Master's Brush Cleaner I use. The restorative solution might be worth a try, but as for the jars, someone's going to have to explain to me why the one I own which used to hold peanut butter can't hold restorative solution.

Of course, I'm so backward I keep my rinse water in cans which used to hold baked beans instead of buying the special Games Workshop rinse water can.

Every day, I get a reminder that there really is such a thing as too much money.

I've used the Masters Brush cleaner for years and years. It does a good job and I'm sure it prolongs the ability of the brush to hold a point.

I just wash the brush in water, dry it a bit with a paper towel, reshape it with my finger and thumb, and let it dry.

Please don't 'shape' your paintbrush with lips or tongue. Cadmium or cobalt or lead poisoning is NOT FUN.

I've used The Masters brush cleaner for 25 years now. Got some as Christmas presents for friends this year. Good stuff!

For my rinse water, I have what was once the plastic cap atop a bottle of laundry detergent. Have cut a few notches in the rim so I can set my brush down atop it without the brush rolling off.

You say that like crawling around on your hands and knees under the paint desk is a bad thing.

Dip the brush in Pink Soap after painting, that's about it.

I use the Masters brush cleaner for both my hobby brushes and my artist brushes. My brush maker (Rosemary & Co) recomemends it for brush cleaning.

And I never use my tongue to retip brushes. Cadmium, cobalt, and who knows what else might be in paint, heavy metals poisoning is not a thing I want either. besides I also paint with oils, OMS is also toxic!

Lick my fingers and then shape the brush.

I just started using the Masters Brush Cleaner and would rather give up my W+N #7 brushes than this cleaner. It will keep a point on synthetic brushes, such as Taklon.

As for licking, I wash the brush first, to get all the paint off, and then set the point using my lips. There must be others who do this, otherwise Masters wouldn't have given their soap a pleasant flavour.
