Is there any info out there on this battle, part of Pontiac's Rebellion? Been looking for a book about it by Edward W. Ahrens. One available through Amazon but for $199.99 USD but that's not happening.

Have you tried to get it through inter-library loan via your local library? There may be a small fee, but nothing like $199 USD !!!

Good advice from ColCampbell !

Really hard-to-find volumes will be sent at almost no cost to your local branch for you to use and enjoy.

Only a couple of pages in Parkman's, which really aren't helpful.

Certainly Interlibrary Loan, but never stop with just Amazon when the price is high. Try the Antiquarian Booksellers Association too.

If it is the battle along the banks of the Niagara River you may want to contact the research library at Fort Niagara.

There's a description of the event in Allan Eckert's 'The Conquerors' if I recall correctly, but that's a novelization, not a scholarly treatment…

Go to the seller's link and try the 'ask a question' button.
This looks like a decimal point error which happens sometimes.

"You're correct, the price should be $1,999.99 USD". I can just hear it now.

When a book is no longer readily available some jack up the price beyond reasonable.I sold a book a few years back. I paid about $50 USD when I bought it but wasn't going to need it anymore so I put it up for about $25. USDA guy in the Netherlands wanted it so the shipping was about $40 USD so I gave it to him for $55. USDWell I find out later that you couldn't get this book for under $900 USD now. After kicking myself a few times I realized how people take people over on hard to find books.
