In the Rec room there's a black and white poster in the background that, I think, reads "The Aren't Labeled Chum(?)".

Can anyone make out if that's what it really says, and what that poster is all about? I'm sure it was put there for a reason.

Thanks,

Dan

EDIT – Here's a partial screenshot of it:

I believe a VD poster

That's definitely interesting. :)

What's that thing on her head then? A huge hat? Looks like a giant Petri dish lid to me.

Voila….my google-fu is strong today…scroll down here:

And you'll find this:

There is a line art poster of a woman in the rec room with the phrase at the top, "THEY AREN'T LABELLED, CHUM", and she is holding a tag that reads, "I HAVE Vd!" This may be a reproduction of a WWII-era "public service" poster warning G.I.s on furlough about venereal disease.

I'm pretty sure I've seen that particular one before, but I couldn't find it this time.

This is the closest:

Here's a page with a bunch of them: link

Took me a while to figure out that there was a missing comma in the OP. There's a bit of difference between "They aren't labelled, chum" and "they aren't labelled chum".

I was stumped trying to make a connection between chum (fish entrails and other bits) and a woman with an STI…

Lol. Good catch (pardon the pun)!

Here is a different angle of the screen shot with the VD!

That's it! Thanks so much.

It's interesting how, just a short while later, McReady conducts in that very same room his Petri dish test with a heated wire on their blood.

"They aren't labelled" is one of the themes of the movie -- it's not obvious who is actually a thing and who is still all human.

Cacique Caribe17 Jan 2018 12:07 a.m. PST

Exactly. And they had just found shredded clothes twice in the film. The first time in the kitchen, with the name tag removed. The second time in a heat stove, but with McReady's name tag on them.

Early in the film, when the dog stops in the doorway, whose shadow is that looking back at him from the room? He's the first guy infected.

Oh man, now you're gonna make me have to look it up! :)
