Nice, but isn't it oversized? Should it be closer to the ship and thin out toward the hull? (Or away from it?) I don't know enough to say.

While many of these markers look great in photos, they almost always become impractical on the tabletop. Once the ships close and run board to board, there's no room between the ships on the table to add or remove these. The yards of both ships are in the way. This one, with the fire colors making it directional, would require TWO such markers. There's no way you're fitting two in that space.

I suppose the ruleset you use may make them practical, but I've never seen a game that doesn't have ships firing at point blank at some point during the battle.
