Just to let those who do not know there will be a new boardgame coming out later this year.

Warhammer 40K Heroes of Blackreach.

picture

Base on the Heroes of Normandie boardgame.

Only draw back to this game is that the Space Marines are Ultramarines, but knowing Devil Pig & iello there will be more expansions coming and the other Chapters along with Eldar and the others will be coming in the Future.

Still on the fence on Pre-Ordering it since I really do hate Ultramarines.

But posting this since the game system is good and this will be a huge seller for Devil Pig/iello.

nsolomon9910 Jan 2018 4:43 p.m. PST

Why, Mithmee?! Are you actually actually promoting a GW product!!?

I feel a great tremor in The Force …..

:)

Mithmee10 Jan 2018 5:45 p.m. PST

I see this more as a Devil Pig/iello game than a GW game.

If GW did this it would not be any good and would cost far more, but Devil Pig/iello have a far better track record.

The thing that is holding me back on Pre-ordering it that the Space Marines are not Dark Angels.

As I said I can't stand Ultramarines.

I only heard of this game earlier this week from a Dice Tower video and I have everything for Heroes of Normandie.

So I thought others might be interested in it.

Pictors Studio10 Jan 2018 6:08 p.m. PST

GW is doing it. Whatever you see it as it is a collaboration between GW and Devil Pig.

You are promoting a GW game.

See they are so good these days that even Mithmee is promoting GW. No wonder their profits are through the roof. Even people that claim to hate them can't help but push GW products.

Mithmee10 Jan 2018 6:40 p.m. PST

Thing is I still hate GW but I do not hate Devil Pig/iello and it them who is putting out this game.

But you are right that it is their re-release of certain games along with their other stand alone boardgames that are increasing their profits.

Oh along with their latest Edition of Warhammer 40K.

Centurio Prime10 Jan 2018 7:57 p.m. PST

And Age of Sigmar

Mithmee10 Jan 2018 8:28 p.m. PST

Not in my area its not but the other items are.

So yes they are doing far better these days.

But their miniatures are not the best and are still far too expensive. Plus their rules have gotten far more simple.

But I saw this game and am just letting others know that it can be Pre-Order now (limited amount) and is expect to be out in May of this year.

Pictors Studio10 Jan 2018 9:33 p.m. PST

They clearly aren't too expensive, certainly not "far too expensive." People are buying them. They are flying off the shelves at both of my FLGS, both AoS and 40K.

So they can't be too expensive. They must be either too inexpensive or just the right price.

Thanks! I like Heroes and do the occasional 40k game, this could be fun.

$75 USD for just the base game? With cardboard flats? Wow. They definitely have GW's pricing instinct.

Mithmee11 Jan 2018 1:19 p.m. PST

No if GW did this it would cost around $125 USD – $150 USD for the base game.

Plus you must not be buying a lot of board games since the normal prices for games these days are $50 USD – $100. USD

So $75 USD is not that bad and you are going to get quite a bit in it.

If they had use the only proper Chapter (I.E. Dark Angels) I would already Pre-Order it.

But they are using their Boy Scout Ultramarines, which shows that GW really only wants just one Chapter of Marines.

Pictors Studio11 Jan 2018 2:15 p.m. PST

If GW did it alone and it cost $125 USD-150 you would probably get about $200 USD worth of miniatures in it.

Source: all of the GW board games that have $200 USD worth of miniatures in them at $150 USD price point.

I guess with collaboration GW products are not quite as good of a deal as they are when they do things themselves.

(Leftee)11 Jan 2018 2:29 p.m. PST

I have Heroes of Normandie – fun game with awesome graphics. If this plays as well and is of similar quality would be a reasonable price for a Euro-War game. Should be tons of maps and other expansions if Heroes of Normandie is anything to go by.

Mithmee11 Jan 2018 7:29 p.m. PST

If that were true it would just show how stupidity expensive their miniatures are.

Actually wrong again since their recent games are not doing well over on BBG.

Their best game that they had done is Space Hulk which is currently ranked at #206.

Fantasy Flight Games has two games in front of it at #87 & #153. But GW killed that collaboration.

Their recent games rank down pass 2000.

Heroes of Normandie is ranked at 694.

So no they do far better when someone else uses their license.

Centurio Prime12 Jan 2018 5:45 a.m. PST

Stupid GW, will they ever figure out how to be successful in the gaming industry ?

GypsyComet13 Jan 2018 12:22 p.m. PST

will they ever figure out how to be successful in the gaming industry

They would need to acknowledge that this matters, first. They are (now) doing fine after a decade of denying that they were limping. In first place, but still limping. They need no pundit validation within the rest of the industry as they are self-contained. The only opinions that really matter are those held by their shareholders.

Mithmee14 Jan 2018 10:54 p.m. PST

Along with their customers.

Pictors Studio15 Jan 2018 1:39 p.m. PST

"If that were true it would just show how stupidity expensive their miniatures are."

But they clearly are not, otherwise they wouldn't be selling like hotcakes right now.

"So no they do far better when someone else uses their license."

GW makes miniatures games and still does well on "BBG" (sic) with their miniature/board game hybrids.

"Along with their customers."

Which they are doing. In spades.

Did you happen to see this:

TMP link

I wasn't sure if you had or not. It is more evidence that GW is kicking ass and taking names in sales.

Mithmee15 Jan 2018 6:27 p.m. PST

Sorry no since your complaints got me banned from the 40K thread.

As for my "Along with their customers" comment they have screwed over far more customers in the last 20 years then they have today.

They currently are doing petty good due to the new 40K Edition along with them putting old games back out on the market.

Neither of which will give them long term profits.

But they clearly are not, otherwise they wouldn't be selling like hotcakes right now.

As I have stated many times not in my area they are not.

GW makes miniatures games and still does well on "BBG" (sic) with their miniature/board game hybrids.

Really! since most of their stand alone games cannot even make it into the first 1000 games over at BBG.

Actually none made make it into the top 1000 games. The best is the AoS Warhammer Quest which is currently at 1407.

I went and took a look at the top 600 games on BBG and GW was only able to put just 5 games.

2 x Space Hulk Editions
2 x Blood Bowl Editions
1 x Heroquest

Fantasy Flight Games had 30 games in the top 600. 12 of these were in the top 100 games.

There is a very big difference when you have one company trying to put out great games and another that is just looking for the quick profit.

GW is about making the quick buck and has continued to come up with ways to get more money from you than what their product is worth.

Centurio Prime16 Jan 2018 10:51 a.m. PST

What the hell is BBG?

Obviously GW needs to cater to the "Mithmee's area" market if they want to survive. As opposed to the massive amount of product they are selling now.

Mithmee16 Jan 2018 1:40 p.m. PST

If you do not know what BBG is than you not really a gamer.

Lion in the Stars16 Jan 2018 1:53 p.m. PST

BGG: Board Game Geek. Pretty cool site, has all sorts of contents pics and gameplay reviews. Sometimes even downloadable rules.

I think I have played <10 games listed on BGG. In my life. And that's including Monopoly and Clue.

So I must not be a gamer.

Pictors Studio16 Jan 2018 5:02 p.m. PST

"Sorry no since your complaints got me banned from the 40K thread."

Yet another thing you are wrong about. I've never hit the complaint button on you.

Why would I? Your arguments usually end up making my point more than half the time. Like how you're pointing out how well GW does as a miniature game maker even in the board game market.

Mithmee16 Jan 2018 6:16 p.m. PST

Well someone did.

Oh and I am sorry for putting BBG instead of BGG which is the premier site for Board Games.

Centurio Prime16 Jan 2018 7:02 p.m. PST

I know what BGG is, and have an account there

billthecat16 Jan 2018 8:10 p.m. PST

Mithmee: thanks for the information.

The cardboard flats are not for me. Nor is the GW price scheme. Everybody is allowed their opinion.
