Hi All, Here's some pictures from my game scenario Nyama! Nyama! (Meat! Meat!), that featured a Belgian Force Publique expedition charged with pushing into the heart of Arab slave-raiding territory circa the early 1890s in the Congo. It was a 3-contingent scenario (with 4-commands), featuring the Force Publique making an amphibious crossing over to an "innocent" cannibal village, once there to help fend off an expected Arab raiding party coming from the east. The "Kwangolese" chief and warriors in the village having been approached to lend hand in the crossing, agree in exchange for the Soldier's help in repelling the on-coming Slavers. The jungle alarm has gone out too, to the tribe's other villages to send help! The battle begins. The Belgians approach the tepid stream hoping the canoes will be waiting for them. -
The crossing begins as planned, but the Kwangolese defenders have retreated, and Arab scouts assail them from the village side. Adjustments to the plan must be made immediately, and under duress. -
From the other side of the clearing, the main raiding force moves out of the jungle preparing to round up the inhabitants of yet another sleepy village, but something seems amiss, there's sounds of firing and soldiers in blue!? -
Into the coming fray, more cannibals arrive from upstream settlements to reinforce their brethren. -
A strange mix of cultures, warriors, and soldiers clash in some far away backwater of history – but not to be forgotten, this time! –
One of the player side maps – this one for the Slavers -

Thanks all! The map is a re-textured rendering of a "desert outpost" map (if I'm remembering correctly) that I bought from off of Wargames Vault. The map base then is a vinyl mat which can be rolled up, that I've over-laid with the terrain pieces for the game. One of the ideas I had for easy-to-delineate (rules judge) jungle areas, was to cut out fiber Welcome mat pieces, and flock the tops of these with clump foliage, and other bushes, but most importantly, to provide a "bed" that I could stick my trees down into, and so the trees could be removed and re-affixed into each jungle area piece for quick setup. The palm trees I bought all had extended "spikes" coming out from their bases, so this gave me the idea for using the fiber matting to hold them in place. It works (if you spray-glue a layer of scenic foliage on top to "poke" through on each mat area, and which secures upright these trees with spikes)! Adhering different colors of flock foliage to the square cut mats can render crop fields, that have the 3D effect of "stalks" when seen from the side – pretty slick, huh! ;) The figs are mostly Foundry, with some Brigade Miniatures mixed in. The canoes come from John Jenkins. They have a little 28mm stuff available, and these were some of my wants needed for the scenario. |

Those John Jenkins canoes are quite nice. But did you REALLY pay $25 USD each unpainted ??? If so, my admiration of you expands ! |

:))) They sold in sets of two, and were reasonably priced when I got them a year ago. I guess by mentioning them here on TMP they just raised their price – see, the admiration inflation continues, and as we speak! Seriously though, if interested in the canoes, send them an email inquiry, I think they might quote you a cheaper price (but tell 'em FlyXwire from TMP sent ya). ;) |
