Thanks for another super AAR. Real exotic stuff from the fringes! You have inspired me to add the last touches to my big 1/300 French Med collection.

That Campaign is one of my favorite areas of study. As well as the entire NA Campaign in general.

Great table, models and AAR ! thumbs up

You have inspired me to add the last touches to my big 1/300 French Med collection.

Durban:

If you don't mind my asking, what have you got going in a 1/300 French Med collection?

I have built a company of Armee d'Afrique infantry from GHQ Romanian Individual Infantry (and Support Weapons), which serve admirably if painted right.

I have FT-17s and White-Laffly AM50 A/Cs from H&R, and R-35s from GHQ. I am adding a motly collection of French trucks from both H&R and Scotia.

I bought some H&R Cossack cavalry some time back, with the intent of kit-bashing them into Spahi's. My thinking was that I could extend their capes and reshape their fur caps to give them a dashing look with red tenues orientales and white burnous, but my more recent research has indicated that in combat they were more inclined to wear khakis and helmets. Now I'm looking at the Baccus Great War Turkish cavalry figures. At 6mm they may be close enough. But I will need to figure out some infantry figures for dismounted Spahis. I suppose basic French infantry figures (I use H&R for my French infantry so far), painted in khakis, might do. Or I could go with the Baccus Turkish dismounts.

I'm also considering some Baccus 6mm Colonial Egyptian figures for Tiraleurs Senegalese. The challenge will be any of the support weapons, as both the Great War and Colonial infantry are just riflemen.

I have seen good work done kit-bashing GHQ British Indian individual infantry and support weapons into Moroccan Ghoumiers. But I'm not as inspired on Ghoums.

I would, though very much like to put some Foriegn Legion troops on the table. For this I am thinking of using GHQ Afrika Korps individual infantry and support weapons. A bit of filing on the sun caps, and the right color paint, and I expect they'll pass for kepis.

Oh, and GHQ has now released a Dodge Tanaka armored truck model.

I'd be interested to see what you have going. Maybe there are other good choices I haven't yet discovered.

So many interesting projects, so little hobby time.

Cossacks would make great Circassian (SP) cavalry for Syria/Lebanon, all the photos i`ve seen look just like Cossacks anyway :)
