Hi all, I take the oportunity to show my lastest work done for Minairons miniatures.

A new range of ships in scale 1/600 is coming. There are two ships for now, a spanish early galleon (1600) and a spanish later galleon (1700).

Wish they also made a line of those ships that started the age of conquest, around 1500.

Early Galleon is the closest to release one: if everything keeps running as expected, I shall launch it by the end of month.

As for the second model, it is scheduled for release about 1-2 months later.

There is also a third model on workbenches --a Man-of-war.

Galleys to play the battle of Lepanto would also be magnificent.

Yes you're right Julian --I've already targeted a wide selection of galleys, galeasses and galiots grin

However, I'm unlikely to start working on any until having fixed how to make the oars for them (as you know wink). Photoetching would be a lovely solution for high detail lovers, but such would make the model too expensive for the average gamer. I must find an acceptable alternative.

What are the long term plans for the range – either Anglo-Dutch War or Russo-Swedish fleets (including inshore / galley squadrons) would be great.

Beautiful ships! At 1/600, about how long are these miniature ships?

Anglo-Dutch Wars would be exciting!

ModelJShip09 Jan 2018 6:26 a.m. PST

The length of the ship is 11 cm, the high 10 cm.
The base of the sea is 13.5 x 4.5 cm

and yes, would be great a range of Anglo Dutch Wars but not only britishs and dutct but also french, spanish…

Will my ships look as good as ModelJ'Ships?????

I doubt it, but it will be good to have a range of ships for this time period.

Here you have a primed and based sample, next to a sloop from Peter Pig. Galleon's own stand is 9cm long and 3cm wide:

As for venturing long term plans, I must admit this to be a hard task at so an early stage. My most immediate plans consisted of completing first a selection of full rigged ships (those two galleons you've just seen, one or two men-of-war and possibly a frigate), before deciding further steps.

One option might be to start a collection of galleys: royal, lantern, ordinary and half galleys, as well as two galleass models (early and late). An alternative option could be exploring a variety of lateen rigged ships (xebecs, dhows and so) as well as Indian gurabs or even Far Eastern junks.

In the end, it all relies heavily on the success degree of range itself, and of course on users' feedbacks and wishlist.

A short note about size of this particular model: for making it, we got inspired on blueprints of an actually large ship, intended for heavy trans-oceanic duties. Average galleons would be certainly smaller than this one.

Thanks for representing the early AOS! I'm looking forward to these.
