"En el informe que el Virrey del Perú Manuel Amat y Junyent entrega a su sucesor(1) se encuentra una relación de las tropas de guarnición en Lima, capital del Virreinato. Las tropas veteranas dentro del capítulo en el que se especifican los gastos de las Cajas Reales de Lima, y las Milicias en un capítulo propio donde se relacionan las unidades existentes en la capital.

Al contrario que en en el informe sobre las Milicias, donde para cada unidad se detalla su composición y uniforme, para la tropa veterana se especifica el sueldo y prest de sus integrantes con lo que consecuentemente se conoce su composición, aunque no se dan datos sobre su uniforme…"
