"When the Mon Calamarians joined the Rebellion, their master shipbuilding skills came along with them. This allowed the rag-tag bunch of rebels to compete with the mighty Imperial Navy in terms of ships. One of the Mon Cal's designs was the MC75 Cruiser, featured in Rogue One. Soon, you'll be able to add this ship to your fleets in Star Wars: Armada. Get a preview here from Fantasy Flight"

Deleted by Moderator I will not spend a penny on star wars again. After 40 years of being a fan they have made me hate star wars. Star wars is now dead to me.

The Force is still strong with me and I will keep spending money on Star Wars and I look forward to add the Profundity to my Armada collection.

P.S. The Last Jedi was very good IMHO.

Glad you like it my friend!.

After seeing the last social justice warrior I will not spend a penny on star wars again. After 40 years of being a fan they have made me hate star wars. Star wars is now dead to me.

Also I have to point out the irony of someone complaining about the inclusiveness of a Star Wars film in a saga featuring a diverse Rebellion fighting against a xenophobic, male-dominated Empire.

Glad you like it too my friend!

Yeah the ships are cool for sure, especially the Mon Cals, but no time for starship gaming these day outside of developing my own game. Though have to say that ship to ship Star Wars has never been super interesting because the movies don't portray ships as having particularly good guns- Just a ton of relatively weak smaller guns. Though they have focused more on some bigger turrets in the prequels and new movies.

Star Wars: The Last White Male is pretty openly a propaganda movie demonising a certain group of people for their gender and the colour of their skin.

That certain other people decided to hijack Star Wars and turn it in to a hate filled, racist and sexist weapon against the very people who once enjoyed it, well, may they get all they deserve.

Akalabeth08 Jan 2018 4:31 p.m. PST

No the problem that people really have is that where they expect the Hollywood norm of whitewashing, Disney instead casts a diverse group of actors.

People are also keen to also conveniently forget key characters such as Leia, Mon Mothma and Lando Calrissian. And of course, virtually no one was complaining about star wars demonising people when the bad guys were all British.

But in the end, 1.2 Billion in ticket sale worldwide tells me that your point of view is probably outdated and very much in the minority.

Yes. It has been made very clear there is no place for people like me in the world Tolerant Progressives are building.

We need to keep in mind that none of the characters in the Star Wars movies are human. They are hideous 6-eyed tentacle horrors from a galaxy far, far away. Hollywood just uses humans to portray them :)

Dezmond09 Jan 2018 5:24 a.m. PST

If you honestly can't tell who the characters in Disney's progressive instructional videos are supposed to represent you need only read the twitter accounts of the people who made it.

They will happily tell you.

The complaints about SJWs in The Last Jedi remind me of a great line from The Empire Strikes Back. Luke is about to enter the dark side cave on Dagobah and asks Yoda what he will find in it.

Yoda replies "only what you take with you." I think that many who complain about TLJ went into the theatre wanting to see what they now complain about. Poor oppressed fellows!

Cheers

As I say, if you want to know what they thought they were making you need only ask them. They will be happy to tell you.

For myself I quite liked The Last Jedi and I had no problems with it.

No dude they're not going to tell you because the truth of the matter probably is that they don't have feminist agenda, but rather they have an agenda for selling Star Wars to females. If only boys like star wars they only sell half the tickets and half the merchandise. But if everyone likes Star Wars, they can make a lot more money. Similarly that's why there are a lot of different actors from different backgrounds.

Movies like the Hunger Games made a lot of money. Disney execs aren't blind to that.

And if you think this is all Disney's fault, remember that Lucas tried to make the prequels have a much broader appeal as well.

If this was a good faith effort at corporate greed there is surely now ample evidence it is alienating vast swaths of the traditional Star Wars fan base.

(A 49% audience rating on rotten tomatoes, endless videos on YouTube denouncing Disney, this thread, a stark drop in repeat viewings and something like a $700 USD million drop in revenues from The Feminism Awakens etc)

(And the film has completely flopped in China. So good job expanding the audience on the front)

Surely we would then see some effort to reach out to the hetrosexual white men who clearly feel abandoned by the direction the franchise is heading.

We won't.

Plus, as you note, it is gonna get trashed by the critics because it Stars an evil white oppressor.

Akalabeth09 Jan 2018 7:07 p.m. PST

Well Disney's marvel movies are 100% focused on white caucasian leads and they're consistently getting good reviews from critics and audiences everywhere. They've still failed to feature a woman in a lead role, and a non-white lead is only about to come out with Black Panther.

Other movies like Dunkirk don't feature the very small minority of Indian soldiers in BEF at the time yet it likewise got very good reviews.

Just enjoy what you enjoy and don't enjoy what you don't. Considering that some of my favourite movies from sci-fi featured women in lead roles, like Alien and the Terminator series, I don't begrudge a few more movies coming out with a similar focus.

But hey howabout that MC75! What a great ship. Now if someone would only make another star wars fighter simulator like the old X-Wing and Tie Fighter, I could get into game and blow it up!

Borderguy19009 Jan 2018 10:08 p.m. PST

Yeah! Another person to stifle and ignore! Love the MC75, very excited this is out. Now we can really do the battle of Scarif with Armada and X-Wing. Gonna be great!!

>>I don't begrudge a few more movies coming out with a similar focus<<

Tolerant Progressives have expanded at some length about how they do very much begrudge the creation of anything that implies hetrosexual white men are anything other than the ultimate evil, and with Star Wars, Star Trek, Doctor Who, Ghostbusters etc all rebranding themselves with 'Piss off nerds, X belongs to girls now' messaging I really don't see how the Pale, Male and Stale among us can avoid wondering what the future will have to offer people like them.

Dude if you're complaining about Star Trek being progressive you were never a fan in the first place. And Dr Who? The show that in its first season back, 13 years ago, introduced a bi-sexual Captain Jack? This is the show that you're lamenting becoming more progressive? Okay. Sure.

Oh get over yourself… if you feel "oppressed" by the notion that a non-white female person can now see herself onscreen in a Star Wars movie, you should get back in touch with reality.

Dezmond11 Jan 2018 11:40 a.m. PST

I think we all agree there is no place for people like me in Progressive spaces.

emckinney14 Jan 2018 11:17 a.m. PST

Transparency: I reported Stealth1000's post. Hijacking a completely game-related thread to express political opinions is in poor taste. Especially when you complain about a different movie from the one under discussion.
