Does anyone have a good tutorial on painting eyes with oil paints? I'm working on a 1/16 scale figure and need some guidance. |

First, look at your own eyes in a mirror. Squint, act scared, or surprised. Notice that unless there is low light, the top or bottom of the iris is covered by the lids. If you are right-handed, paint the left eye first. Match what you have painted on the right eye. Beware making the white of the eye white. A very light flesh or even a very light purple will avoid the dreaded doll eyes. At 1/6 scale, you will need to paint a pupil in each eye and even radially stripe the iris. After all that hard work, you will need to decide if your guy is squinting outside. If so, you need to paint over some of your hard work. Or search for eye decals. |

Eye decals look better than I can paint at 1/6 scale. Unless this is for a competition or commission, it could meet your needs. |
