Based on IMDb filmography I count 24 actual roles in uniform, not counting David Crockett or Texas Rangers. David Niven, Gary Cooper, Victor McLaglen and Jack Hawkins tie at 16 each. C. Aubrey Smith, who I thought would be a shoo-in, I counted only 13. |

I would guess maybe Christopher Lee. Tons of military and police roles. Also don't forget the 2 or 3 real life uniforms he wore. PS. Christopher Lee was an absolute Bad A##. |

Charleston Heston and others from the 1950-70. |

I wouldn't be surprised if Ernest Borgnine topped him. Lee Marvin has to be up there as well |

C. Aubrey Smith, who I thought would be a shoo-in, I counted only 13. Interestingly, he wore two different Ruritanian uniforms at different parts of his career; not only did he play Colonel Zapt in the 1937 (best) movie adaption of The Prisoner of Zenda, he had previously played Black Michael in the stage version in London in 1897. I count higher on Gary Cooper, not all of his roles have a military rank listed. |

Michael Caine was a German officer in 'The Eagle Has Landed' and wore a Polish uniform in it as well. |

Sean Bean must be up there. Sharpe was a TV series, IIRC. |
Winston Smith | 28 Dec 2017 2:25 p.m. PST |
Michael Caine was also Peachy Carnehan in the Man Who Would Be King, and Banastre Tarleton in Sweet Liberty. |
