This might seem a silly question but I've seen reference to Austrian uniform buttons being cast in white or yellow metal. Does this mean that they should be silver (pewter?) or brass, or are they really actual white or yellow – painted, enamelled or cloth covered?

Thanks,
John

It is white and yellow metal so in reality pewter or brass.
