"China's foreign ministry issued a warning to Japan to "act prudently" following reports of Japanese military plans. Beijing diplomatic spokeswoman Hua Chunying said Tuesday at a regular press briefing that Tokyo should realize peace "through action," referring to a report Japan is modifying the Izumo helicopter carrier for fighter jets, according to Xinhua…" Main page link Amicalement Armand |

Unless there's a treaty limiting Japanese naval tonnage like the one which limited Germany's navy prior to WWII, China isn't in the position to tell Japan anything. |

Yes they are, at least by PRC standards. They have a much bigger army and air force than Japan. |

Its an empty threat. China is not going to start a war with Japan over this. And Japan knows it. |

Whatever China wants, China always gets. It wants to show to the other Asian countries, particularly those in the SCS, who it is that calls the shots in Asia. It might seem insignificant to us, but not to them. Dan |

28mm: "Unless there's a treaty limiting Japanese naval tonnage like the one which limited Germany's navy prior to WWII, China isn't in the position to tell Japan anything." It is covered under the same "treaty" that prevents China from building islands in the middle of international waters and annexing the surrounding waters. – LOL |

Zoneofcontrol: "It is covered under the same "treaty" that prevents China from building islands in the middle of international waters and annexing the surrounding waters. – LOL" Yep, exactly. It had the weakest of all claims and yet it now controls the entire area. So, if Vietnam wants to send anything from it's northern coast to the Philippines … just think of the detour. Worst of all, just think of how all those other maritime nations are now being cutoff from their essential fishing grounds and any potential mineral resources around their claims Like I said, what China wants, China will get. And the West is too afraid to get in the way of anything it wants. If China wants to invade Taiwan, all the West will be able to do is watch it unfold without daring to interfere, and then act like the great heroes by assuming the burden of masses of refugees. China loses nothing. Dan
