…. Multi-Million Dollar Home and the Neighbors are Not Pleased. "Tony Buzbee is an attorney in Houston. Tony Buzbee is also a history buff. Tony Buzbee, the attorney and history buff, spent $600,000 USD on a World War II-era Sherman tank. Then Tony Buzbee parked his tank in front of his home in a high-property value district of the city. Life would be pretty good except that Tony Buzbee has neighbors and those neighbors are not pleased to see Tony's tank when they look out their windows. They have contacted the homeowners association, the River Oaks Property Owners, to voice their concerns about increased traffic in the neighborhood from sightseers and complain about the safety issues that they feel come along with having a WWII tank on the street. Buzbee understands that some people aren't happy with this piece of history, but doesn't feel it is hurting anyone at all. Children come over to climb on it. Area residents have stopped by to check it out. In Buzbee's mind, the tank is a value-add for the community…" Main page link Amicalement Armand |

hahahaha. I'll never understand Why anyone would purchase a house with a home owners association. Buy property then sign over your rights to it?? lol |

I live in a HOA community – it keeps the neighbors from doing stupid crap and I love it. |

@ Dynaman8789 Yeah, but wouldn't it also keep you from doing stupid crap? And if so, then where's the fun in that? |

I don't want to do stupid crap that lowers property values. |

My viewpoint has always been when they start paying my bills, they can tell me what to do with my property. HOA's are the biggest tyrants there are. But fortunately we don't have any in the county where I live. |

HOA or not, the photo of the parked tank makes me wonder how other vehicles get around it. Blocking a street is still a violation in Texas, right? |

He's a rich Aggie. 'Nuff said. |

Blocking a street is still a violation in Texas In some places the vehicle would get tagged as "abandoned" and towed after a few weeks, unless it was driven regularly. |

Until I actually looked at the link, I thought he parked it on his lawn which seems perfectly acceptable. I wouldn't like it blocking the street. |

And he is the news again today. Apparently, his date refused to leave his house, went crazy and he is claiming she did $300 USDK worth of damages to artwork in his home. I find it interesting that the news failed to mention that he is a regent for the aggies. |

"In some places the vehicle would get tagged as "abandoned" and towed after a few weeks, unless it was driven regularly." Towed with what? Most tow companies don't own a recovery vehicle. :) |

Very cool, even if he is an Aggie! I'd like to have one on my rural property but the $600,000 USD tab is a bit stiff. |

I presume there is some history with that Sherman or else Shermans became rare. A few years beck you could get de-milled Chieftains and other MBTs for under a $100 USDK. Shipping not included… Have to say that if I lived in the neighborhood the impact on traffic would be of some concern, but other than that can't see why anyone would complain. |

"Towed with what? Most tow companies don't own a recovery vehicle. :)" I'm sure someone has a buddy at the nearest National Guard unit… |

"People are concerned about safety…" There's a TANK in his front yard. Who is going to mess with him? Also, the article said this one was used in Normandy invasion. That would give it extra significance.. If it is provable. He is planning to move it. |

There's a TANK in his front yard. Who is going to mess with him? I have a friend outside of Louiseville, Kentucky, who does military vehicle resorations. I helped him translate some 90 year old French manuals when he got the Patton Museum project to restore one of two Renault FTs recovered by US forces in Afganistan (or was it Iraq?) and shipped to Ft. Knox. So one day he offers to take a few of us for a ride in his pride-and-joy M5 Stuart tank. We pile it, my buddy Tim driving, of course, and yours truly in the TC's seat, and go roaring up and down some suburban Kentucky streets. A tank driving by sometimes draws a bit of attention. We went up one road that was a dead end, and had to take a couple moments negotiating a 3-point turn before heading back down. As we passed one house, a fellow waved to us from his front porch. We stopped to wave back. He cupped his hands over his mouth to shout something to us. We couldn't hear. So Tim shut down the motors. Then we heard him… "Just came out to make sure you were one of ours…" OK … and if we hadn't been? -Mark (aka: Mk 1) |
