Dear community

I would like to paint the three Portuguese line regiments for the 1812 Russia campaign.
Most of the Portuguese miniatures I can find (eg. Front Rank) are for the Portuguese army (british service) and not for the Portuguese in French service (the Portuguese Legion).

Other than Elite miniatures – can you recommend any miniatures in 28mm portraying these?

Several different makers of Portugese here. Maybe one or more of them will have what you are looking for…

Brigade Games has some but I am not sure if they meet your requirements; link

I have the elite guys in my armies (I am not a huge fan of elite mininatures) once painted up they look well and are closer to the Portugese legion then the portugese army types of other makers.

Thanks for the link's IronDuke and Cerdic. Unfortunately they all (except Elite) make the English Portuguese and not the French. So – back where I started.

I am surprised. The Portuguese Legion is part of Le Grande Arme, serving under Marshal New during most of the Russia campaign and did quite a lot of fighting. I would have thought many miniature painters would have run into the same challenge in the past building the french army and also that it would be something the produceres of figures would benefit from sculpting. Maybe in the future..:)

As you Marcel I will have to go with the Elite models. I am not familiar with Elite but they look a bit rough and over-articulate for my taste. But it will be fun to paint new models though- thanks for your reply!!

I recall there was a thread some years ago about possible conversion options. MIght be worth a search.

Magnusploug2, you could also try and contact the perry's they have released so much odd units already and they do listen to they potential clientele,so drop them a line, who know. I can always use a couple of extra batalions myself and I am sure people like Deadhead w etc would also welcome some. So Perry's do us some typical portugese legion guys!

Thats a great idea – I will throw Perry a line and hopefully be able to put in on my wish list for next Christmas!
