My agency transitioned to the Glock 17 in 1992. I carried it every day whether on duty or not. It is a very fine fighting pistol. However, two years ago I changed to the SW M&P 40 and haven't regretted it. The grip is much more comfortable.

I have had various flavors of the 1911 throughout the years and to me they are just meh.

I had the chance to shoot the FNX-45 Tactical and the SIG 227 Tacops on Tuesday and the FNX is the best handgun I've ever held.

The 1911 is a classic but dated.

The 1911A1 is dated, modern guns based on the 1911 model are not dated.
