Question for folks…has anybody used a tack to secure a mini for painting, left it on for a few months until you managed to finish painting the mini, and then the tack had hardened into place around the miniatures feet? I think the person I commission to paint my miniatures may have just had this very thing happen to my miniatures, and we may need to find a way to remove it. Anybody had this happen? --Joe |

Joe I'm having a hard time trying to picture a tack being used that way. Did it puncture though the base? And how big a figure are you talking about? Dan |

Look at the feet of the two figures on the right. They had been sculpted with a slotta base "tab". I think the slotta tab was cut off by the painter and then tack of some sort was used to adhere the mini to a surface for painting. Now I'm guessing the tack dried so hard that it couldn't be removed from the feet, so the tack was simply painted black.

Do you mean Blue Tac, or something like that? Just try soaking it up to the knees in hot water. That usually loosens stuff. Going from freezer to hot water will work in recalcitrant goo. |

With the color, that looks more like epoxy putty. I've never had poster tack harden on me and I've left minis on a painting stick for months |
