There is some controversy over his "Valley of the Shadow of Death, 23 April 1855." It seems that the original photograph was a bit sparse. So he had men move cannonballs into the road and took the photograph again. This sort of "staging" was common, and Matthew Brady and other photographers certainly did it. |

Whats really funny is the nyt complaining that a news organization uses staged and fake news items. Irony writ large. |
