Several years ago I saw a double-blind Midway game being run at Historicon. Looked fun. Large screen with unit movements on each side, not viewable by opposition. Then map showing known units of each side. Failed to take the time to see what rules they were using. Any thoughts on rule to use for a double-blind game like that? |

We've used the old Avalon Hill game Midway for just that purpose. Worked well. |

Midway +3. It's just a game that still plays well. |

Our group did several double-blind and umpired Pacific carrier versus carrier games back in the early 1980's. We used the (then) new game 'CV' from Yaquinto. |

"Midway" is your best bet. We played a variant once called "Bermuda" Germans and Italians attempt to capture Bermuda as a base of operations against the US in 1946. When I was in High School we played Midway constantly for about two years. Then I discovered cars and girls. Wargaming was put on hold for a long while. I still have my original game plus counters for different variants. The issue with doing a carrier based game with miniatures is that the miniatures become irrelevant to the game. I would just use counters save yourself all the trouble. |

Avalanche Press avalanchepress.com makes several series of naval warfare games; Great War At Sea, Second World War At Sea link , & The Second Great War (fiction). They cover every ocean, several seas, & more navies than you can count. Fortunately for you, the introductory game (WW2) is Coral Sea link a carrier battle. Look first at the Publisher's Preview link . The series is excellent for running refereed operational campaigns which can be transferred to the miniature's table to fight out the tactical battles. And, where else can you afford all of Plan Z? |
