Gents,

Please feel free to pop on over to the blog and read the AAR for out latest engagement – a clash between the Khedive's Egyptian army and the Ethiopian forces of King John.

All spiffy stuff with lots of good looking lead…plus a few afterthought sof TMWWBK rules.

Enjoy

Amazing. I'm in the process of putting together my Ethiopian army for this war (my Egyptians are ready to go). I thought I would be the only one to do this war using TMWWBK.

If you contact me directly at Burker1 (at) aol (dot) com I have an article about this war that I'd be happy to send you. It has some great details. For example, the Egyptians did not use bayonets.

And some of the Egyptian officers were ex-Confederates.

Oddly enough I just completed my Ethiopian army a few hours ago…

Thanks gents,

Comments appreciated.

Bob, I'd love to have that article – I'll send you an email. I believe old General Loring was one of the Khedive's generals and a good few more Americans…certainly an interesting force.

I have the excellent book, "KHEDIVE ISMAIL'S ARMY" by John Dunn…a mandatory buy if you are into the Egyptian army of this period.

Thanks again.

Thanks chaps,

All that white on table does look good and the Khedive's army is a nice colonial force different to the usual European suspects.

Great game, great report. The figures paint jobs are excellent. I have those Ethiopian figs too, use them against Italians in 1930s.
Ethiopian history is fascinating, they usually are a very tough bunch on a battlefield.

"I have those Ethiopian figs too, use them against Italians in 1930s. "

That's originally what I used them for…and still do. My blog on the Abyssinian Crisis was just about such a war!

Great battle & report. What make are the figures used in the game?

Rhingyll15 Dec 2017 5:48 p.m. PST

I like the idea of giving pinned troops at least an opportunity to unpin and then take action rather than unpin just to get shot at an pinned again. Maybe they don't roll high enough but at least there is a chance.

Happy Wanderer16 Dec 2017 12:00 a.m. PST

@coopman
Egyptian figures are Copplestone Zanzibari foot plus Perry extras. Ethiopians are mostly Empress Miniatures plus some Askari miniatures.

Happy Wanderer,
Beautiful troops and terrain! Thoroughly enjoyable AAR as well. I've used many of the same troops to build my Egyptian army for this period. I haven't started my Ethiopians as of yet, but plan on copying your usage of figs as I think your army looks great. I've signed up to follow your awesome blog. Sterling work sir.
Cheers,
JB

Thanks Sarge,

Comments much appreciated.

I hope you can scour the blog for tips on the Ethiopians. The Ethiopians were originally put together for my other blog proposing an alternate Abyssinian Crisis.

Check out the details of how I painted the Ethiopians here…and lots f info to boot!

@HappyW, I checked out your Abyssinian Crisis blog and I must say it's very well done sir. I love the How To article as well the other posts, very motivational! This is a very interesting subject with tons of gaming possibilities. I look forward to your next post on this period.

Happy , Very nicely done indeed . Paint jobs and AAR are first rate . Ive been working on finishing up my Abyssinians and Sudanese for a big SATF convention game . My Sudanese are all OG and my Abyssinians are a combo of Empress,Askari,Irregular and Castaway Arts all of which mix in quite well for the most part . Once again very nice work !

Happy Wanderer29 Jan 2018 12:44 a.m. PST
